Gavin Jones has followed an academic career closely linked with consultancy assignments in the areas of population and development, educational planning and urban planning. After completing his PhD degree at the ANU in 1966, he joined the Population Council, where he worked first in New York, then in Thailand and Indonesia, before returning to Australia. He was with the Demography and Sociology Program at Australian National University for 28 years, serving as head of program for six years.
He holds a joint appointment with Dept of Sociology, NUS. click here
